You Find What You Are Looking For
You find what you are looking for.
I recently just had the pleasure of seeing Brene Brown speak this past week in San Francisco. (I loved her most recent book...Braving the Wilderness!) Among the ton of wisdom she had to share, one of the things that stuck out the most for me is the idea that you find what you are looking for in this world.
If you are looking for someone to make you feel lacking, you’ll find it. If you are looking for excuses or reasons that confirm you are fat, undisciplined, stupid, you name it, you’ll find it.
Conversely
If you are looking for someone that thinks you’re amazing, you’ll find that too. You’ll find reasons to connect with strangers, value your body, and appreciate your life just as it is right now, if that is what you’re trying to find.
How powerful!
Think about the what you are telling yourself and looking for in this world. Does it lean positive? Do you believe the best intentions come from your partner/spouse? Do you believe you add value to your job and that your boss and coworkers see that too? Do you give the benefit of the doubt to friends and family? Do you see the beauty in what your body can do right now?
If not, what if you did? How might that change things for you?
