Adventures in sourdough
I’ve been working on a sourdough starter to make sourdough bread. With our recent move from San Francisco to Ohio, we are missing good sourdough! You know the kind….good crust, fluffy inside, and nice and tart like from Boudin?!
I’ve asked friends, taken to the internet, read blogs, looked at multiple websites for varying instructions on the best way to make a sourdough starter….and finally settled on a plan and got started. But man, was it a lot! And everybody had a different opinion and a different way.
It occurred to me this is much like the diet/fitness industry. There are a ton of ways to get to your goal...and it can be confusing as hell if you let it….but you just have to decide which path suits YOU the best. And then, here’s the key, ignore the rest of the noise!
As someone who came up in the era of Weight Watchers and calorie counting, I knew that could work, but I also knew it made me CRAZY and it created an effed up relationship with food that I carried for years.
I’ve also read many of the favorite books from the body positivity camp, most notably Health at Every Size & Intuitive Eating. While I loved the message of loving yourself just as you are and making peace with food, I also felt a little confused. What happens if you still want to lose weight?
So as a coach, I decided I would marry how I was certified...which is habit-based change (think Atomic Habits)...with many of the foundations of intuitive eating. And I’ve come up with my own process to help women lose weight for good while ditching all the diet industry BS.
What this means is that you will be able to lose weight AND feel better about your body and have increased confidence. Because if you’ve ever lost weight and not addressed the emotional side of things, you know that you can lose weight and not find the happiness you are looking for!
