Need some motivation?!
Just in case you’re wondering why you can’t seem to get your arse in gear and make the changes you want in your life, let me explain very quickly how the brain works. We make decisions based on the think-feel-act cycle.
So how does this info help you? If you’re anything like me, you operate as if it’s the feel-think-act cycle instead. And if you want changes, you need to change that order!
Here’s what we think happens: you wake up feeling motivated (feel), then you think to yourself “I’m gonna take care of myself today” (think), and then you listen to your hunger and move your body (act).
But here’s the deal for most of us. The alarm goes off and our first thoughts aren’t “I’m gonna take care of myself today.” Our first thoughts are “I don’t want to get up….” and we’re suddenly waiting for motivation to kick in so we can get our butts outta bed.
But that’s not how motivation is created….motivation isn’t created out of negativity...or “I don’t wannas”. Motivation is created with your thoughts and with your future in mind. It doesn’t just magically appear.
So when the alarm goes off and your first thought is “I don’t want to get up” you need to remind yourself why the alarm is set in the first place! You need to remind your brain of how good you’ll feel when you do the damn thing! Whatever that is for you.
All of this to say, if you’re waiting for magical feelings to appear so you can have the life you want, you’re going to keep waiting. You need to create those feelings with your thoughts. And the good news is, that option is available to you right now.
